Provider
Medical Prescription Services Ltd is an independent medical agency. We develop and utilise technology to enable authorisation to dispense Prescription Only Medicines (POMs) by Patient Group Direction (PGD) as a Private Doctor Service. Providing private clinical assessment and the supply of Prescription Only Medicines under authorised Patient Group Directions (PGDs) through appropriately trained healthcare professionals and partner pharmacies. The service is committed to safe, effective, patient-centred care in accordance with all applicable legislation and RQIA requirements.

Services Provided
The service enables clinical assessment and private healthcare services including travel health, vaccination services, occupational health vaccinations and condition-specific PGDs where clinically appropriate. Medicines are supplied only following assessment against an approved PGD and relevant clinical guidance.

Patient Group, Staffing, Governance and Review
4. Patient Group
Adults and, where appropriate, children who meet the eligibility criteria for the relevant service and PGD.
5. Staffing
The service is supported by a Registered Manager, Consultant Pharmacists, Operations Manager, Office Manager, administrative staff and, if required, a bank of suitably qualified healthcare professionals. All regulated professionals maintain current registration with their professional regulator and undertake mandatory training and continuing professional development.
6. Clinical Governance
Clinical governance includes regular audit, incident reporting, complaints management, medicines management, safeguarding, information governance, staff training and review of PGDs to ensure safe practice.
7. Complaints
Complaints are acknowledged within 2 working days, investigated fairly and responded to within 20 working days. Patients are advised of their right to contact the RQIA if they remain dissatisfied.
8. Equality, Dignity and Privacy
The service is committed to equality of opportunity, dignity, respect, safeguarding, confidentiality and compliance with UK GDPR and the Data Protection Act 2018.
9. Review
This Statement of Purpose will be reviewed annually and whenever there is a significant change to the service, staffing or regulatory requirements.

Responsible for the day-to-day clinical management of the service, governance, patient safety, professional standards and regulatory compliance.
MPS Regularly Consults with Patients, Pharmacists and Organisations, such as the National Pharmacy Association (NPA). Patients and pharmacists are normally consulted by way of online surveys. Patients are encouraged to record their opinion at the end of each electronic consultation. Participating pharmacists are surveyed annually.

Medical Prescription Services Ltd is committed to protecting the privacy and confidentiality of all patients and service users.
We collect, use, store and share personal information only where it is necessary to provide safe and effective healthcare services and in accordance with the UK General Data Protection Regulation (UK GDPR), the Data Protection Act 2018 and all other applicable legislation.
Personal information, including health information, is accessed only by authorised members of staff and healthcare professionals who require it to deliver care. Appropriate technical and organisational measures are in place to protect personal information from unauthorised access, loss or disclosure.
Information may be shared with other healthcare professionals, pharmacies or regulatory bodies where this is necessary for the provision of care, to meet legal or regulatory obligations, or where the patient has provided consent.
Patients have the right to request access to their personal information, request correction of inaccurate information, and exercise their rights under UK GDPR. Requests will be managed in accordance with our Data Protection and Confidentiality Policies.

Dignity
We encourage all participating pharmacists and pharmacy technician to recognise the value of every and dignity of every individual, to respect patient’s views, choices and decisions and to avoid making assumptions about how they wish to be treated, and deliver care and compassion and professionalism, communicating directly with the individual whenever possible. We look to achieve this aim by ensuring that all participating pharmacists are appropriately trained, and by offering appropriate guidance in the PGDs and other documents we write that support the services they offer.
